07/11/2005 - My Asia Adventure

Hi everyone. I am back from my holidays in China, South Korea and Japan.
What an adventure I had and all the photos can be found here.

Everything started with the Intrepid Tour called Taste of China and oh what a taste I got. What a great group of people that I joined to experience the Chinese sights and sounds. It was a 9 day tour which included the cities of Beijing, Xian, Suzhou and Shanghai. The major highlights would have to be visiting the Great Wall of China and seeing the Terracotta Warriors but also including cycling around the city wall in Xian and the architecture of Shanghai.

Next stop was Seoul, South Korea were my friend Andrew and his girlfriend Sally are living. It was great to catch up with them and to see how their life is in such a great city filled with restaurants and soju(Korean rice wine) and norebang(karaoke).

After that Andrew came with me to check out the biggest city in the world, Tokyo. We stayed in Shinjuku and visited via the subway many of the cities hubs, like Shibuya, Roppongi, Ueno and Ginza. The final night of my holiday I went to the New York Bar at the Park Hyatt where Lost in Translation was set and it was the best view of the city and then hit Shibuya for some techno clubbing.

The overall highlights were to see the differences between the three countries as well as trying all the beautiful food, I really couldn't get enough of the food. I am still trying to get used to eating with a fork and knife. Now I am back in Australia and its time for me to try and settle back to reality and look forward to the summer ahead.
